CHINA FASHION DESIGNER MONTHLY REPORT – May 2018
June 26,2018
In May 2018, we have seen the continued development and market expansion of Chinese designer brands.
The big four international menswear fashion weeks will be launched soon. Chinese fashion designers and designer brands, Sean Suen (孙小峰), SANKUANZ (上官喆), Angus Chiang (江奕勋) , Xander Zhou (周祥宇), Pronounce (by Yushan Li & Jun Zhou 李雨山&周俊), Private Policy (by Haoran Li & Siying Zhai 李浩冉&瞿思颖), STAFFONLY (by Ya Wen & Shimo Zhou 温雅&周师墨) will continue presenting fashion shows in Paris Fashion Week Menswear and London Fashion Week Menswear in June.
In the distribution side, nine designer brands opened offline stores in May. Some are their first offline stores. Some are their first stores outside of their base city. Other mature brands continued opening more direct-managed stores to reinforce their self-owned distribution channels. In addition, there are four designer brands that opened TMall online flagship stores, expanding their online distribution channels.
With the increasing influence and commercial value of Chinese designers, more and more brands take initiatives to collaborate with Chinese designer brands. The designer Davidson Tsui and Gap, and Fengchen Wang (王逢陈) and Levi’s collaborated again for new collections.
It is noteworthy to mention that in order to encourage more students to understand and design eyewear and to discover more talents in eyewear design, the Chinese accessory designer Percy Lau set up an eyewear scholarship with the Jewelry Design Department of Central Saint Martins, where she completed her studies previously. The winner will receive the scholarship and his/her design will become the special edition of the accessory brand Percy Lau’s next collection.
Luxe. Co launched “Chinese Fashion Designers Monthly” in 2016, reporting monthly Chinese designers’ updates on market development, business cooperation and major fashion week participation in both domestic and international markets.。
