After the Spring Festival, creative fashion designers have continued to develop crossover collaborations with partners including renowned brands and popular TV series. In addition, more and more designers are partnering with stores and well-known shopping centers by opening pop-up stores and holding exhibitions.
This Fashion Designers Monthly contains the latest news from a total of 31 independent Chinese designer brands.
Crossovers
1)CLOT, operated by Edison Chen, has released its second capsule collaboration with British headwear brand Kangol. Themed “Bridging the East and the West”, the capsule features five hats with different styles.
2)Six Chinese designer brands have collaborated with PEACEBIRD on the “PEACEBIRD Independent Designer Collaboration Replica Collection”
PEACEBIRD, a Chinese commercial brand, has teamed up with six domestic independent fashion brands — XU ZHI, WMWM, GARÇON BY GÇOGCN, CALVIN LUO, NOMANOMAN and STAFFONLY for the PEACEBIRD Designer Replica Capsule Collection. The designers chose one of their own iconic items and handed it over to PEACEBIRD for reproduction. Based on its strong production chain, PEACEBIRD then optimized and adjusted the details of the designer's best-selling items.
3)H&M has joined hands with Chinese designer brand PRONOUNCE for the second time to launch a gender-neutral collection
Chinese designer brand PRONOUNCE has collaborated with Swedish fast fashion giant H&M to launch a gender-neutral collection featuring geometric figures inspired by Dunhuang’s Crescent Lake and a number of traditional Chinese myths. This is the first global collaboration with a designer for H&M's menswear line Blank Staples, which launched last August; it is also the second time H&M has collaborated with a Chinese designer brand, following its 2019 collaboration with Angel Chen.
The collection will be available from April 8 at H&M designated stores in China, the HM.COM.CN China site, the Wechat mini program “HM Online Shop”, the H&M app and the H&M Tmall Official Flagship Store.
4)Jewelry designer brand HEFANG Jewelry has released its first collaboration collection for 2021, the “Barbie Collection”.
5)Designer brand Bronze Lucia has collaborated with the TV series “PINGPONG” to launch a co-branded phone case.
6)Designer brand SANKUANZ and G-SHOCK have teamed up again to create a new joint watch with the theme “KILL the WALL”.
7)Designer brand Shushu/Tong and Chinese womenswear brand Le Fame have jointly launched a limited edition capsule collection with a women’s sports club theme.
8)Designer brand Claudia Li and American jewelry brand Fruta have launched a joint collection of accessories.
9)Designer brand CHICTOPIA has collaborated with the famous British children’s picture book Mr. Men Little Miss to launch its Spring/Summer 2021 womenswear collection.
Events
1)Street fashion brand ROARINGWILD has opened its first pop-up store in Guangzhou, using the concept of a “wormhole” to connect the Shenzhen R⁴ pop-up store with the Guangzhou store, creating a parallel space concept.
2)Designer brand MUKZIN has teamed up with Chongqing IFS to hold an exhibition, which includes more than a dozen custom-made fashions handcrafted and upcycled by lead designer Han Wen. The exhibition opened on March 8 and runs until April 7.
3)Accessories designer brand YVMIN has teamed up with boutique store Clap to open a "LOOOOOVE"-themed pop-up store in Chengdu.
4)Designer brand CALVIN LUO has opened its first pop-up store with Hangzhou concept store B1OCK.
Prize
1)2021 YU PRIZE finalists announced
2021 YU PRIZE promoter Wendy Yu has officially announced the 16 finalists: AT-ONE-MENT, CHENPENG, DANSHAN, DONSEE10, 8ON8, GARÇON BY GÇOGCN, MING MA, OUDE WAAG, REDEMPTIVE, SHIE LYU, SHUSHU/TONG, SHUTING QIU, SUSAN FANG, WINDOWSEN, YUEQI QI and ZI II CI IEN.
In April, the winner will be announced at Shanghai Fashion Week and will receive a cash prize of RMB1,000,000, or US$150,000. Commercial partners of the award include luxury jewelry brand Piaget, champagne brand Remy Martin and beauty brand Yumee, which was launched by Yu herself.
