ABG Announces Tristate Becomes Licensee of Reebok in Greater China
January 11,2022
On January 6th, the Authentic Brands Group (thereinafter referred to as “ABG”), an American brand development, marketing and entertainment company, signed a long-term license agreement with Tristate Holdings Limited (“Tristate”; SEHK Stock Code: 458), a long-standing ABG partner, to become the core licensee and operator for Reebok in China, Hongkong, Macau and Taiwan. Tristate will take on Reebok-branded retail stores, e-commerce operations and wholesale distribution.
The agreement becomes effective upon the completed transfer of ownership of the Reebok brand from Adidas to ABG, which means that Reebok will officially become one of the ABG-owned brands by then.
Found in 1958 by Joseph William Foster, Reebok is based in Bolton, UK. In 2005, Adidas acquired Reebok for 3.8 billion dollar and sold it to ABG at 2.1 billion euros on August 12th, 2021. The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2022.
Tristate is the operator for other key ABG-owned brands, including Nautica and Spyder. Peter Wang, chairman and CEO of Tristate said that Tristate enjoys rich experience of managing premium brand in Greater China, which is conducive to ABG solidifying its position within this crucial market.
Established in 1990 by Peter Wang, formerly known as HWA FUH Manufacturing Company (Hong Kong) Limited. As a vertically integrated company, Tristate’s value chain consists of 8 factories, 4 brands and businesses across 12 countries. It takes on the branding process of design, marketing and distribution, and offers brands consulting services of how to connect with China’s consumer market. In 2014, Tristate created its trademark Cissonne. In 2015, the group acquired C.P.Company and its annual revenue reached 2.277 billion yuan in 2020.
