  • Maternal and child brand KARADO KIDS obtained 10-million-yuan angel investment

Maternal and child brand Karado Kids announced on May 10th that they obtained 10-million-yuan angel investment from Chunxiao Capital. Karado Kids was incubated from a Chinese high-end knitted fabric supplier, who owns several textile patented technology including Silrospun yarn technology and KLD fiber processing technology. Karado has over 200 SKUs on-line and focuses on intimate textile products for babies from infants to 3 years old. In distribution channels, Karado has TMall flagship store and JD flagship store, as well as one offline store in Shanghai currently. The store is facilitated with a handcraft workshop, where parents can tailor-make and DIY baby clothing.

Fashion E-Commerce Platform

  • Cross-border e-commerce platform BorderX Lab (别样) raised 20 million US dollars in Series B financing

Cross border e-commerce platform BorderX Lab announced on May 8th that they raised 20 million US dollars in Series B financing. The arrangement was led by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB) and followed by Hillhouse Capital, CBC Capital, Weiguan VC and iFly Capital. The financing will be mainly used to expand the team and to improve personalized recommendation system. BorderX Lab was established in July 2015, featuring "bring the quality life of Europe and the U.S. to China". Through the APP, users can view products provided by different department stores and brands, which are customized and recommended based on users’ preference. Users can click and purchase through the APP. At present, BorderX Lab has established cooperation with over 50 department stores and thousands of brands, with over 5 million SKUs and over 3 million registered users. The annual income for the year of 2017 was tens of millions of U.S. dollars.

Food and Dining

  • Snack brand Planet (星球食袋) obtained millions of yuan angel investment

The snack brand Planet announced on May 11th that they obtained millions of yuan angel investment led by Tiannuochuangshi and followed by Gaoxinkaisheng. Previously Planet obtained seed capital from Qianhaibaichuan in January 2018. The new financing will be mainly used for snack category development and smart POS optimization. Established in December 2017, Planet has over 200 SKUs currently covering dried fruit, potato chips and other categories. Sales mainly relies upon self-developed smart POS terminals, which can analyze consumption data with algorithms and manage inventory and sales status.

  • Coffee machine developer YOU COFFEE (友咖啡) raised 35 million yuan in Series Pre-A financing

Self-service grinding coffee machine developer, You Coffee announced on May 10th that they raised 35 million yuan in Series Pre-A financing led by Banyan Capital and followed by Hina Investments. The financing will be mainly used on equipment distribution. You Coffee was established in February 2017, providing coffee products including Mocha, Americano, Macchiato, Espresso, Cappuccino and Latte, and Nestle milk and milk tea products. Coffee beans are sourced from Brazil and dairy products sourced from New Zealand and Australia. Currently You Coffee has distributed nearly 4000 equipment in China.

  • Smart restaurant reservation management platform MWEE (美味不用等) raised 400 million yuan in Series D1 financing

Smart restaurant reservation management platform MWEE announced on May 11th that they raised 400 million yuan in Series D1 financing from Alibaba and Ctrip, with an evaluation of 4 billion yuan after financing. Previously MWEE raised hundreds of millions of yuan in Series C+ financing. MWEE APP went online in April 2013, entering the catering market from the angle of queueing. MWEE provides a list of restaurants which can be reserved within 30 kilometers based on users’ location. After users click the restaurant page, they will see the real photo of the restaurant and make reservation online through the APP. In addition, MWEE will have its first co-sharing restaurant in Shanghai in June 2018. The restaurant has no kitchen facilities, and only provides the dining area, simple cooked food and dining services. Customers can reserve through MWEE APP and order food from restaurants within 800 meters.

Sports and Fitness

  • Internet yoga brand WAKE raised tens of millions of yuan in Series A+ financing

The internet yoga brand WAKE announced on May 11th that they raised tens of millions of yuan in Series A+ financing from the listed company, 37 Interactive Entertainment. Previously, Wake raised 20 million yuan in Series A financing led by Dongfang Fuhai Shenwan Fund in December 2016. The new round of financing will be mainly used for self-owned curriculum development, brand building and market promotion. Wake was established in September 2015 with an online APP providing yoga enthusiast users with content and tool products. Users can choose classes. The platform provides personalized newsletter based on users’ information provided during sign-up. At present, Wake has nearly 10 million registered users, among which 90% are female users. Wake offers more than 1500 classes online. Since its launch of paid content services in 2Q17, Wake has generated over 10-million-yuan income.

Hotel and Travel

  • City co-sharing accommodation space brand ISLANDS (千屿) raised tens of millions of yuan in Series A+ financing

City co-sharing accommodation space brand Islands announced on May 10th that they raised tens of millions of yuan in Series A+ financing from Kinzon Capital. Previously Islands raised tens of millions of yuan in Series A financing led by Banyan Capital and followed by Plum Ventures in April 2018. The new round of financing will be mainly used to promote domestic franchising program and to improve the efficiency of management system. Islands was established in July 2017, featuring transforming normal rooms to a third space with travel photo shooting and lifestyle content. Users can pay by time or needs. Also, they can share the idle time of their reserved rooms in order to enjoy discounts. Currently, Islands has thousands of rooms in over 10 cities in China, including Beijing, Xi’an, Chengdu, Wuhan, Shanghai, Dalian, Nanjing, Hangzhou and so on. Users can reserve through Islands mini program, major OTA and online short-term rental platforms.

Household Products

  • Household and lifestyle brand NOME raised 180 million yuan in Series A+ financing

Household and lifestyle brand Nome announced on May 11th that they raised 180 million yuan in Series A+ financing led by Sequoia Capital and followed by Capital Today. Previously, Nome raised 230 million yuan in Series A financing in 2017 from Capital Today. The new round of financing will be mainly used to enhance user experience and optimize supply chain. Nome features Nordic design and extreme value for money. Currently Nome has covered ten product categories, including home, apparel, accessories, digital appliances, food, skin care, children and furniture. With over 3000 SKUs, Nome has nearly 100 stores in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing, Shanghai and so on.
